WHY THIS SCRIPT IS BETTER THAN MATT's FORMMAIl? :

Because in this Script your email ID is not shown on the HTML page, and can not be found on the HTML Source code, and this saves you from a lot of SPAM. In place of the email ID a code or a Number is used in HTML which sends email to a particular ID which is defined in the CGI script. Although this is a revise of the world famous Matts' Formmail script. The nms-formmail.pl script has many improvements over the original Matt's formmail script. It leaves you without any fear that someone or some automatic email crawler engine may just view the source code of the HTML page and find out and misuse your email address. You can use this script as .pl or as .cgi also.

THIS SCRIPT WILL WORK BEST IF YOU?? :

It will work Best if you set this script to receive Form's on any email ID created on your domain name like you@yourdomain.com which is actually an email ID created on the same domain name where the formmail script is installed. If you want to install this script in the cgi-bin of your  http://www.yourdomain.com and want to set this script to send the feedback to any email ID created on "Hotmail" or "Yahoo", may be it may not work correctly, or not at all. Reason, that some server companies have restricted access to their Sendmail script to restrict sending cgi feedbacks to external ID's. It is therefore advised that always first create an email ID on the domain name where you are setting up this script and tune the script to send feedback to any of the ID's of your domain name.

SOME TIPS ON HOW TO SET-UP :

Here are some tips and tricks on how to configure the formmail script. The details are available in the attached Readme.zip file but we are discussing some tips which may be useful.

Read the Code below, followed by the explanation on how to set them . The code will be found in the nms-formmail.pl which you are required to set while using the script.

TIPS ON FORMMAIL.PL SCRIPT SET UP :-

[Keep this 1 after you are done with the setting and testing of the formmail script - ]

[If you keep the value to 0 the nsm-formmail script will be active, and the advance features will work. But you change the value to 1 then the script will work like Matt's Formmail. We recommend you do not change this value]

$secure =                1;

[We recommend that you keep this value as 1 to enable many additional security features turned on.]

$max_recipients = 5;

[This will decide how many maximum different email ID's this formmail script can send emails to?. This will be useful if you want different forms on your web site to send feedback to different email ID's. It is recommended that you must specify this value. Best way is to keep this value limited and use only limited email ID's per web site to receive feedback forms. But never keep this value as 0 as it will enable it send response to unlimited email ID's which could be just dangerous.]

[This is the domain name and IP which will refer the feedback form to script. In other words this is the domain where you want to keep the feedback.html form. Change values according to your domain name. You can add more domains  separated with a , to use this scripts to receive and process feedback forms from various domains or keep only one domain, as you like.]

Set up the recipient alias, as 1,  2 , 3 or more. Give exact email ID that you want the alias to send email to. In the html form you need to give the following <input type="hidden" name="recipient" value="2" /> . If you keep the value as 2 in the html form the results would be sent to the email ID against the recipient alias mentioned against '2' - Set up your html form accordingly.

• This will save you from putting your actual email ID on the HTML form, and you can be Lucky if you don't receive so much of SPAM, then those who use any other formmail script.

HOW TO REDIRECT TO THE THANK YOU PAGE :

After the form is submitted you can have the user get automatically redirected to a customized Thank You web page. Just keep this following code in the html code of the Feedback form.

We recommend you use this customized Thanks page to keep more information and links regarding your web site. And also to maintain the similarity of the look and feel of the web site. If you do not keep this code within the HTML form, once the form is sent the formmail script shall automatically generated a "Thank You Page" to show up. But since it may be inconsistent  to the color and scheme of your web site, it is recommended that you make a thank you page yourself.

You will need to design and upload the thanks.htm page on the server and give the URL path accordingly in the above hidden type code, in the html of the feedback form. [Sample Form and Thanks page are included with the script download.]
